Hi all,I'm so glad that someone finally got a site together for DH! THANK YOU!!! There's some truly wonderful material here that I hadn't seen anywhere else (and believe me, I've searched... and searched...!).My first encounter with Donald Harington's writing was about 14 years ago when I found"Some Other Place. The Right Place." I was living in Mississippi at the time andnot enjoyingbeing there, so the title gave me adose ofmuch-needed optimism! I read and re-read it many times (while moving around from state to state--in search of my own "right place," I suppose) before taking a peek at "Ekaterina." That did it; I was hooked. I found the rest of the books here and there online, and bugged the nice folks at our then-newly-openedBarnes & Noble to ordertherestfor me. (They'd never heard of him and asked me, "What's his writing like?" to which I responded, "Like nothing you've ever read. Imagine you're having a dream where Nabokov and Faulkner are trading stories with your favorite professor...." By the time I left that morning, three of the staffers were ordering their own copies of "13 Albatrosses.")Looking forward to reading "With"--enjoyed the wonderful review posted on the board here!

Thank you for your kind words about the site!

That's great that you got B&N ordering the books. I have "converted" at least three friends to Haringtoniana. Even my son has read -and enjoyed- two of the books and that's amazing when you consider that he refuses to read anything I recommend.

Keep spreading the word

I've been slowly but surely converting my friends as well. Now whenever we discuss other books recently read, Harington's writing has become the standard of comparison--i.e., "It's good, but it's not Donald Harington."
