Hi,I just found this site. I read "Some Other Place, The Right Place" thirty years ago, and loved it. I've read it several times since then. Definately one of my top ten of all time. Most people have never heard of this book. I've always wondered about reincarnation. And I'm a hiker, so there's the outdoor angle. And I was the shy, Day Whittiker type of boy growing up. I could definately relate to his being shy with women.Write me if you'd like to discuss this book. I've never even met anyone who's read it. It would be nice.My favorite quote: "All My Towns Are Fallen." (Montross)Tom

Hi Tom!

It's been quite a while since I've read SOP TRIP but yes, I did love it as I do all of Harington's book  (I'm what some might call a rabid fan   .  And I did love the subject matter as well.

I'm always curious as to how people find DH.  Would love to hear your story.

If you are interested in a good book with reincarnation as it's theme you should check out  "The Law of Love" by Laura Esquivel.  I'm not sure how good the English translation is but the original is wonderful!

Cheers!

I found this book in a used book store.  I've read it 3 times since purchasing it in the early 80s.  I've recommended it to friends who've all loved it. It's a wonderful story on so many levels.  I've often wondered how it would translate into film and would it's undoubtably X rating prevent the film from being taken seriously.
I don't know if it could be made well if it were edited to the degree necessary for an R rating, but if it were released with an X rating I doubt it would be taken seriously...and who would be the best choice of actors for the various roles, not that there are any out there who would agree to be cast in it.

This book was made into a movie in the mid 80s.
